This workshop combines the meditative quality of hand lettering practice with the playfulness of collage.
No previous art experience necessary: reconnect with your creativity, experiment with reused materials, and create your own artwork or greeting card to take home.
You will learn techniques for drawing type by hand, how to draw neat and legible letters in any style, and the fundamentals for creating your own lettering style from scratch, as well as simple ways to embellish letters and add personality to them.
You will then be guided step by step through your project from sketch to finished artwork: create an artistic composition with a hand lettered word of your choice, and explore ways to incorporate collage into your piece, turning everyday waste into art.
All materials will be provided; you are also welcome to bring your own pens, magazines or scraps you would like to upcycle.
